In a press release issued earlier today, game publisher 2K announced the return of NHL 2K to mobile devices. The new title, called simply NHL 2K, is being developed by Visual Concepts and Virtuos Games, and is expected to arrive this fall on iOS and Android platforms with a “premium” price point of $7.99.

According to the release, the title features “enhanced graphics and compelling new features, including a detailed My Career mode; fast-paced, three-on-three mini-game; and first-ever multiplayer options, allowing fans to play in a turn-based shootout against their friends.”

In addition to the features noted above, NHL 2K also will include MFi Controller compatability, NHL GameCenter LIVE connectivity, and iCloud support (iOS-exclusive features).

The press release also promises live roster updates and the return of classic game modes that include NHL Winter Classic, Free Skate, and Shootout. In short, 2K is working hard to ensure the mobile game offers enough of the content fans like to justify its asking price.
